NASPE Standard 1: Scientific and Theoretical Knowledge.
Physical education teacher candidates know and apply discipline-specific scientific and theoretical concepts critical to the development of physically educated individuals
Element 1.3- Describe and apply motor learning and psychological/behavioral theory related to skillful movement, physical activity and fitness.
Artifact: EXS 297 (Motor Behavior) Pod Cast
Reflection:
Throughout my time in Motor behavior, I was able to experiment with incorporating technology to analyze and solve real world situations.
Element 1.3: Describe and apply motor learning and psychological/behavioral theory related to skillful movement, physical activity, and fitness.
Artifact: MVO2 Lab
Reflection:
This exercise physiology lab was used to measure myocardial oxygen consumption and how it is connected to the product of heart rate and systolic blood pressure. While creating this artifact, I was able to learn and gain experience in what happens to the myocardial work as a student does a 20-minute bike ride. It focuses on the work the heart does to provide adequate amount of blood flow for the amount of work the body is doing. This represents my progress in meeting the standard by showing that I have the scientific knowledge to effectively find student’s health in a number of different ways. This artifact and standard are both important to my development as a teacher because any good physical educator should know how the body works and what ways physical activity can affect it.
